The Graduate English Preparatory Program (GEPP) at the American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP) provides a two-level English course designed for graduate students with IELTS scores ranging from 5.0 to 6.0. This program aims to enhance students’ English language proficiency, essential soft skills, fundamentals of academic research, and 21st-century learning skills, ultimately preparing them to qualify for postgraduate degree programs at AUPP.
The Graduate English Proficiency Program (GEPP) Level 3 is designed to prepare participants for graduate studies conducted in English. The primary objective of this course is to equip participants with the language and soft skills needed for higher education in the 21st century. Course participants will be exposed to the basic academic genres needed for reading and writing in addition to a range of self-directed learning activities to supplement their English proficiency. At the end of the course, participants will have adequate reading, writing, and presentation skills to undertake independent academic work in higher education.
The Graduate English Proficiency Program (GEPP) Level 4 is designed to equip participants with research and critical thinking skills to excel in academic contexts. Throughout the course, participants will engage with various academic genres, improving their reading and writing skills to communicate complex ideas within the discourse community. Additionally, participants are expected to adhere to academic conventions, demonstrating independence, integrity, and a commitment to ethical research. Upon completing the course, participants will have the necessary skills to undertake postgraduate studies at an international English-medium university.
