Stephen J. Ronzano, D.Ed.

Dr. Stephen J. Ronzano is from Fresno, California. Dr. Ronzano started work at American University Phnom Penh in January 2021. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor of General Education and Humanities. Dr. Ronzano earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical and Religious Studies at Fresno Pacific University, a Master’s Degree in Education-Counseling and Student Services from California State University, Fresno. His Masters work focused on the problems of remediation in post-secondary institutions. He earned his Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from the Joint Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership (JDPEL) from California State University, Fresno and University California, Davis. His dissertation focused on metacognitive strategies that improve reading and writing comprehension.

Dr. Ronzano has 43 years of experience in various education positions in California and internationally. He started his educational career in 1979 and served as a Campus Director and an Area Director for Fresno/Madera Youth for Christ. That same year he started a 25-year co-curricular job as an aquatics coach of girls and boys water polo and swimming for middle school and high school teams in California and England while doing his student teaching in Biblical Studies in a study abroad program. Dr. Ronzano also served as a secondary English teacher, coordinator for curriculum alignment and benchmarks for Team 9, and a university counselor and lecturer in California.

In 2010 Dr. Ronzano took a job in Brazil as an English teacher and taught AP Language and Literature. He also served as an educational consultant and professional development provider, for the Center of Excellence (COE) and Ministry of Education in Kazakhstan, a WASC Coordinator in Myanmar, and Head of Department, and Secondary Principal in Thailand. In December 2019 Dr. Ronzano came to Phnom Penh to work as a Secondary Principal at Footprints International Schools. His hobbies include writing poetry, short stories, educational handbooks, and articles, developing writing resources for students, and teaching Italian cooking classes. Dr. Ronzano is passionate about all he does and particularly in helping students understand their talents, skills, and abilities through career assessments for future success. Currently he is working on a series of children’s stories about growing up in an Italian American Catholic family.
