Michael Berg in an Adjunct Professor in the Business Department, supporting both the MBA program and undergraduate courses. Mr. Berg blends academic training in international affairs and business administration with over a decade in a half of hands-on experience in supporting senior leaders in private industry and the U.S. government. Michael holds an undergraduate degree in International Relations from Bentley University, with a minor in International Business Management, as well as a Master’s in Strategic Security Studies from the elite U.S. National War College, and a Master’s in International Business Law (LL.M.) from the University of Liverpool. Michael focused his dissertation on the need for a review of best practices in International Investment Law in Southeast Asia.
Formally a Foreign Affairs Analyst supporting the U.S. federal government, Michael began his career by serving in the United States Peace Corps in a small refugee village in Armenia, along the contested Nagorna/Karabach and Azerbaijani borders. His current unique perspective is shaped from an understanding of the theoretical International Relations knowledge mixed with practical on the ground experience in developing countries, in both the public and private sectors.
Michael has been based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, since January of 2016, and held positions as part of RMA Cambodia’s Senior Management team. In addition, Michael sat on the Board of Directors for the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), was the founding Secretary for the Porsche Club of Cambodia, was acting on the Board for the Cambodian Auto Industry Federation, and has partaken in numerous committees with the European Chamber of Commerce, AmCham, and more.
