Dr. Kuntha Pin earned a combined Master’s and Ph.D. degree in ICT Convergence from Soonchunhyang University (SCHU), South Korea, in 2023. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication and Electronic Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Royal University of Phnom Penh, which she completed in 2018. After graduation, she pursued a postdoctoral research position at the EICCSCE Research Center at SCHU, completing her postdoc in June 2024.
Dr. Kuntha Pin was recognized for her outstanding academic performance with a scholarship from the Woojung Education & Culture Foundation in 2021. As a student researcher in the UC Lab at SCHU for four and a half years, she contributed to various projects and published journal articles and conference papers, many of which were supported by the NRF, MSIT, and SCHU. To further broaden her experience, she served as an Assistant Professor while pursuing her Ph.D. She has also been a reviewer for KSII and ICT4sHealth&Home since 2019, and was the session chair for the ICT4sHealth&Home conference in 2024 in Japan.
Her areas of specialization and research interests include digital image processing, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, generative AI, classification, segmentation, object detection, and applied AI in healthcare.
She is passionate about educating and mentoring the next generation, fostering a deep understanding of AI, innovation, and creative problem-solving. By actively involving students in research and development projects, she aims to give them opportunities to apply their skills and ideas to real-world challenges. In a rapidly advancing technological landscape, she believes that being an instructor goes beyond lecturing. She is going to stay current with research and engage in R&D projects to remain up to date with technological advancements.
